Spinal Headache Symptoms

You may experience spinal headache symptoms in the event that you have had some sort of spinal surgery or procedure.

The symptoms can occur in the event that spinal fluid has leaked during the surgical procedure, which then creates increased pressure leading to a headache.

These headaches are not common, but can be painful in those that experience such symptoms.

The symptoms of spinal headache tend to be much worse when you are in a sitting or upright position than when you are lying down.

It is important to get plenty of bed rest in the event that you suffer from these headaches.

Doctors may also ‘patch’ up the leak with a blood clot and increase hydration in order to improve the symptoms of these headaches by minimizing leakage and replenishing fluid.

These spinal headache symptoms can occur up to five days after the spinal surgery or procedure has taken place.

It is important to let your doctor know of any headache symptoms that occur following this type of spinal surgery or procedure, as the doctor can then initiate the appropriate treatment to alleviate the headaches and repair the leakage of spinal fluid.

These headaches can be severe and dull or they can cause throbbing pain. Coughing and sneezing can exacerbate this type of pain, and it may be accompanied by a mild stiffness of the neck.

Although the risk of these headaches following spinal surgery is far decreased by the advancement of procedures and technology used today there is still a risk of these headaches occurring from fluid leakage.

Spinal headache symptoms can be uncomfortable and painful, but fast and effective treatment can ensure that the pains are eased as quickly as possible.

It is important to get bed rest for at least a couple of days in the event that you experience these headaches, and the doctor will normally advise whether additional treatment is required in order to remedy the problem.
