Osteoma Headache

An osteoma headache may be experienced by those with a benign tumor known as osteoma.

These tumors are usually craniofacial ones, and in many cases they display no symptoms and are, in fact, only discovered by chance during some other procedure. However, there is a chance that the tumor can enlarge and become symptomatic, and in these cases it may be necessary to undergo surgery.

One of the possible effects of a symptomatic osteoma is osteoma head pain. The pressure created by the growth of the tumor can result in pain in the head as well as the face. There are other symptoms that may be experienced once these tumors become symptomatic, such as facial swelling and bone erosion.

In order to alleviate osteoma headache problems, it is necessary to have to tumor removed. This is normally only done if the tumor becomes problematic, and starts causing pain such as headaches. These tumors are more common in those aged between ten and twenty-five years, and they are also more common in males than females.

It can be difficult to link headaches to this type of tumor, and if you have been suffering from head and facial pains your doctor would need to run tests to see whether an osteoma was present.

There are many causes of headaches, and your headaches may well be nothing to do with a tumor. However, if one is present, then the doctor can arrange surgery to get it removed thus alleviating the pressure that causes the pains.

In some cases osteoma headache symptoms can be chronic. If you are experiencing headaches and facial pains and you think this could be related to osteoma, you should seek assistance from your healthcare provider as soon as possible in order to get this confirmed and for surgery to be arranged.
