Vital Ocular Migraine Information
Ocular migraine results in a piercing eye pain. This particular migraine initiates by attacking one eye for several hours and then catches the other eye.
Scientists refer to ocular type of migraines as retinal migraine, which gets into a repeated attack of one sided blind spots or blindness lasting less than an hour and it prolongs to maximum an hour.
How The Ocular Type of Migraine Occurs? The Ocular type of migraine is becoming more common amongst the migraine victims. Ocular migraines appear as a small blind spot in the peripheral vision area. In five to ten minutes, the spot spreads in entire peripheral area. This results into complete blindness or object fuzziness. The appearance of the this type of migraines can be different for different victims. However, there is one thing common among the victims and that is, they suffer from visual haziness and disturbance. As a result, they have to convey the work of reading and writing with much difficulty, since the pressure is twice on one eye. Nausea and vomiting are the most common symptoms. However, the victim gains back his/her vision in the eye after almost twenty to thirty minutes. Remember, sometimes Ocular type of migraines creep silently to your eyes and you get the aura of headache, which is not there in reality. With a shrill noise, or intense light you may feel the pain taking over you. When Ocular type of migraine is silent, it is more difficult for the victim.
The causes The real causes of Ocular migraines are still a topic of debate. The most convincing explanation is that, it is caused by vascular spasm that affects the ocular blood vessels, which is supplying blood to the vision center of the brain. Some other reasons also trigger the bold pain like alcohol, stress, oral contraceptive, pre-menstrual changes. Red wine, chocolates and meats preserved in nitrates and milk cannot be spared when the question of migraine arises.
The Symptoms The most common symptoms that starts to show at the first attack of the migraine, is unusual vision sensation. The sensation is sparked in the form of shimmering, jagged and semicircular light. Feeling of nausea and vomiting are also very common. Once the pain is gone, the victim may feel very fatigued and unable to work for a few minutes, since it will take time for his/her vision to adjust.
The Treatments for Ocular Migraine In normal instances, Ocular migraines do not require any treatment. However, the victim should pay a visit to the doctor to determine that there is no issue of serious blood flow. In normal cases, the doctors usually prescribe painkillers. The victim should also try to reduce stress and tension as much as possible and should be particular about the diet. The best treatment you can have for your self is by stopping panicking or worrying and keeping a calm mind. At least, make sure that you get sufficient sleep for a day.
