Recognizing Your Migraine Trigger Will Save You A
Migraine Attack

Quite like the trigger of the gun when pulled leads to someone being shot, a migraine trigger also leads to the onset of an excruciating head pain.

In the case of migraine, a trigger signifies any factor, which on withdrawal or exposure leads on to a migraine attack.
The triggers for migraine can be categorized into divisions, like environmental, behavioral, dietary, infectious, hormonal or chemical.

Factors Or Migraine Triggers That Cause Migraine

  • Bright lights, loud noises, and certain odors or perfumes

  • Allergic reactions

  • Smoking or exposure to smoke

  • Physical or emotional stress

  • Alcohol or caffeine

  • Changes in sleep patterns

  • Skipping meals

  • Foods containing tyramine, like aged cheese, red wine, chicken livers, smoked fish, certain beans, figs and other food

  • Menstrual cycle fluctuations, birth control pills

  • Changes in weather - if you are sensitive to weather changes, you can get a migraine attack. High humidity with high or low temperature has been reported to be a trigger for migraine.

  • Migraine can also be triggered by tying up your wet hair into a plait, which results in a head pain gradually graduating onto migraine.



Identify Your Personal Trigger For Migraine
A migraine trigger need not be same for all the people. Therefore, a migraine patient is advised to follow closely what triggers the pain of migraine in them and must avoid that factor.

Whenever you get a migraine attack, note down what you have eaten before that or what may have caused the migraine attack; this way, you will be able to identify what was the trigger for migraine in your case and thus you will learn what to avoid in order preventing the pain of migraine.

At best, you can ensure that you have proper sleep, take regular meals and intake caffeine and alcohol moderately. Do whatever you can to help yourself avoid a migraine attack.

If you know your personal migraine-triggers and in all cases avoid it, you will be surely preventing the onset of a fresh migraine attack. This is really more than you could ask for.

Knowing your migraine trigger works wonders in avoiding a migraine attack. It is often the key to avoiding the onset of a terribly bad pain of migraine.
