Headaches And Cortisol woman

Cortisol is a steroid hormone that is secreted by the adrenal glands.

Known as the stress hormone, cortisol is released in times of stress and gives you the motivation and nervous energy to face the stresses of everyday life.

So, although high cortisol excretions can result in various ailments, cortisol is still a necessary hormone.

Excessive production and release of cortisol can lead to irregular blood sugar metabolism, tiredness, and fatigue. In addition to these ailments there is the link between headaches and cortisol.

In chronic cases, excess cortisol secretions can result in muscle pains, joint pains, weight gain, and premature aging.

So, although cortisol is a necessary hormone, it is also important for anyone that feels that they are suffering due to excessively high levels of the hormone to see a doctor.

If you think that there may be a relationship between your headaches and your cortisol levels, you should see your doctor with a view to getting treatment to regulate the levels of the hormone in your body.

Headaches caused by cortisol can be painful and debilitating, and you could end up with a variety of other ailments as well as headaches stemming from excess cortisol secretions in the body.

Most people have the highest levels of cortisol in the blood in the morning.

So, if you suffer from morning headaches, there could be a relationship between your headaches and cortisol levels.

Cortisol can also be higher after eating, so make note if your headaches also seem to be worse after a meal.

Your doctor can run tests to check the levels of this hormone in your body, and if necessary can provide effective treatment to reduce the levels and alleviate related headaches.
