Headache Remedies For Temporary Relief

Most people, when they think of headache remedies, think of drugs and prescriptions.

However, remedies can also include short term actions to alleviate the pain of these headaches.

There are a number of remedies that have been used by headache sufferers, and have often helped the headache to subside naturally.

Of course, these remedies are not an alternative to proper treatment, but can help to ease the pain when headaches strike.

Some headache for temporary relief include getting indoors, out of the sun and the heat. Also, shutting the curtains or closing the blinds can help to ease the pain by shutting out the bright light.

If you are already indoors when the headache strikes, you may need to go outdoors in order to get some fresh air – the headache may be triggered by stale air.

Painkillers are also a temporary measure to alleviate headaches, although you should not simply rely on painkillers (unless advised to do so by your doctor) if you suffer from regular or long term pains.

Some people swear by meditation as one of their favorite headache remedies, and this can certainly help to ease and relax the mind, which can lead to the alleviation of pain.

Massage is another way to try and relieve pain, and you can even get special oils designed to ease head pains, such as rosemary and mint.

Soft music is another way to try and sooth a headache, and is used as a short term remedy by some.

When trying such headache remedies, you should also bear in mind that you need to seek medical advice if you are suffering headaches fairly regularly and for no apparent reason.

These remedies can provide temporary relief, but for a longer term treatment you should make an appointment and discuss the symptoms of the headache with your doctor.
