The Origin
In the past, it was believed that Basilar artery migraine initiated in the Basilar artery. Researchers actually believed that the main root of the migraine was caused due to the contraction and expansion of the blood vessel.

However, the researchers of today are now at a more practical reasoning and therefore they are looking for causes that are more neutral.

Today's scientists have found that, this type of migraines do not have its roots in the artery, but rather it is in the chemicals that are sending messages to the brain.

Therefore, what was once known as the Basilar artery migraine is now known by the name of Basilar migraine.

This type of migraines share the same treatments as those of other migraines. You can visit a doctor, who may suggest a number of medications.

These include anti-epileptics, beta blockers, anti depressants, calcium channel blockers, acetaminophen, et al.

Sometimes, the victims also try to lie down in a dark room or simply lay a damp cloth on the forehead to dispel the migraine.

This type of migraine does turn worse with the consumption of alcohol. Hence, you should cut down on your intake of alcohol and that will be the best way in starting your treatment for the migraines.

Biofeedback is an alternative treatment, suggested mostly by the doctors. The treatment measures internal processes in the body to accelerate your healing process.

Intake of certain foods can trigger the migraine and therefore you should be aware of what you are consuming. Cheese, wine and nitrates spark debilitating pain in the head, which turns worse in the long run.
