The common migraine or what is known as a sick headache is actually referred to as atypical type of migraine.

The head pain in this form of migraine may be one-sided or two-sided and it can come with severe neurological effects.

You will find that this migraine is more prevalent among the Whites.

When you have a migraine that looks like a normal one, but has symptoms that seem to change drastically, your doctor is likely to diagnose you with atypical migraine, which may require a careful series of tests.

This kind of migraine usually does not have any typical symptoms.

For instance, if you suddenly have a migraine attack that does not accompany any headache, then you are diagnosed with atypical kind of migraine.

The Causes
Atypical kind of migraine occurs due to the constriction of the blood vessels in the brain, lack of sleep, genetic disorder, motion sickness and exposure to bright or fluorescent lighting and weather changes.

If you are affected with atypical kind of migraine, the least possible you can do to help yourself is to take good sleep and exercise well. It is also up to you to stop taking in any food that triggers the migraine attack in you.

Your doctor can also prescribe you with dihydroergotamine, which is an alpha-adrenergic blocking agent. This has a stimulating effect on the smooth muscles of the cranial and peripheral blood vessels. This in turn, also depresses the central vasomotor centers.

Ibuprofen is often the recommended first-line treatment for mild to moderately severe migraine attacks. Aspirin is another effective medication for the treatment of mild to moderately severe head pain.

For the treatment of atypical migraine, it may take a lot of time and effort. The medicines given are that of the common migraine.

For greater effectiveness, more medicines are given that suit the atypical kind of migraine along with its symptoms. This kind of migraine needs proper diagnosis, as it may tend to get tricky, and also the proper kind of treatment.
